Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity - the Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) supervises HUD's housing and community development activities to promote fair housing and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, religion, sex, or national origin. He or she also promotes equal opportunity for disabled people and families with children. FHEO administers: Fair Housing laws and regulations; and the Fair Housing Assistance Program that provides financial and technical assistance to State and local government agencies to implement local fair housing laws and ordinances.
